Nagpur police arrested over 50 people following communal violence sparked by protests against Aurangzeb’s tomb, injuring 33 officers. Nagpur remains under tight security and curfew after violent clashes erupted following protests against Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's tomb. Maharashtra police have arrested more than 50 individuals involved in the violence, which injured at least 33 police officers, including three deputy commissioners. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described the incident as "premeditated," alleging protesters deliberately provoked communal tensions, partly fueled by the recently released movie "Chhaava," highlighting Aurangzeb’s atrocities against Sambhaji Maharaj.

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale acknowledged the film intensified public anger, resulting in demands to remove Aurangzeb’s grave. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Milind Parande condemned the attacks, claiming homes of Bajrang Dal activists were specifically targeted. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde further inflamed political discussions, criticizing attempts to glorify Aurangzeb, calling it disrespectful to Maharashtra's history.

Opposition parties accused the ruling BJP-led alliance (Mahayuti) of deliberately inciting unrest. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray alleged BJP negligence contributed to violence, suggesting intentions to replicate Manipur-like tensions. Similarly, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh blamed BJP’s politics of hatred for creating divisions. Meanwhile, Nagpur Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule urged opposition parties to refrain from politicizing the sensitive issue, stressing unity and communal harmony.

Authorities continue investigating CCTV and social media evidence to identify further suspects. Activist Manoj Jarange controversially alleged government complicity, accusing Chief Minister Fadnavis of indirectly enabling the unrest through his government's handling of historical grievances. With curfew measures continuing, Nagpur remains tense, prompting widespread calls for peace and careful handling to restore normalcy.
