After losing his son in the Pahalgam terror attack, Sanjay Dwivedi urged Home Minister Amit Shah for severe retaliation. Recounting that terrorists spared his daughter-in-law to “tell Modi,” he demanded justice. India has since suspended key agreements with Pakistan as public outrage and national mourning deepen across the country.

As grief spreads across the country following the Pahalgam terror attack, the father of one of the victims, Shubham Dwivedi, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Srinagar, recounting chilling details of his son's final moments. Shubham, a Kanpur resident, was among the 26 people killed in the attack carried out by terrorists in the Baisaran meadow area of Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.
Sanjay Dwivedi, his father, shared that Shubham, his wife, and sister-in-law had stopped at a restaurant during their visit to “mini Switzerland,” a scenic tourist spot near Pahalgam. According to his daughter-in-law, armed terrorists entered the area, interrogated them about their religion, and then shot Shubham in the head. The terrorists spared her, telling her to “go and tell Modi what happened.”
The shocking encounter has intensified public anger across the nation. Sanjay Dwivedi demanded an unrelenting response, stating, “Action should be so severe that their seven generations would never dare to kill again.”
Shubham’s mortal remains arrived in Lucknow on Wednesday, where Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and other officials paid their respects. The remains of another victim, Sudeep from Nepal, also arrived alongside.
In response to the attack, India has taken diplomatic and strategic steps, including suspending the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty and closing the Attari integrated checkpost. The Cabinet Committee on Security, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, condemned the attack and outlined a series of retaliatory actions targeting Pakistan's role in cross-border terrorism.
