Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif visited Balochistan to meet survivors of the Jaffar Express hijacking and the security forces who rescued them. The attack by BLA militants ended with the army killing all 33 insurgents. Sharif praised the operation and urged Afghanistan to prevent its territory from being used for terrorism.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Balochistan on Thursday to meet survivors of the Jaffar Express hijacking and the security forces that carried out the successful rescue operation. The visit came a day after Pakistani forces eliminated all 33 militants from the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) who had hijacked the train.
The attack began on Tuesday when the insurgents detonated explosives on a railway track, derailing the Jaffar Express near Gudalar and Piru Kunri. Armed militants then opened fire on the train and stormed the compartments, killing and injuring passengers while taking others hostage. A large-scale military operation involving the Pakistan Air Force, Special Services Group (SSG), Army, and Frontier Corps (FC) ensued, successfully rescuing over 300 passengers.
During his visit, Sharif, accompanied by senior ministers and military officials, commended the bravery of security personnel and vowed to eliminate terrorism. Military officials revealed that the BLA militants maintained satellite communication with their leaders in Afghanistan throughout the attack. The Pakistani government has called on the Afghan Taliban to prevent its territory from being used for cross-border terrorism.
