On National Unity Day, PM Modi honored Sardar Patel’s legacy, urging citizens to counter “Urban Naxals” allegedly disrupting India's unity. He promoted "One Nation, One Election" and highlighted India’s progress toward a uniform civil code. The day included a Unity Oath, military parade, and tributes at the Statue of Unity.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's 150th birth anniversary, speaking from the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat. PM Modi emphasized the spirit of unity embodied by Patel and reflected on the nation's "unprecedented achievements" in fostering national unity over the past decade.
PM Modi voiced concerns about forces he termed “Urban Naxals” who, he claimed, aim to destabilize India’s economy and deter foreign investment. He urged citizens to identify and counteract these influences, describing them as individuals invoking constitutional ideals to promote discord. While traditional Naxalism in India’s forests has diminished, he argued, a new urban model has emerged, necessitating vigilance and proactive measures from every citizen.
The Prime Minister also spotlighted his government’s initiatives for “One Nation, One Election” and a uniform civil code, expressing that these efforts are geared toward strengthening Indian democracy and driving development. PM Modi highlighted Patel’s unifying role in consolidating hundreds of princely states into a single nation, defying global predictions that newly-independent India might disintegrate. He further announced that the next two years would celebrate Sardar Patel's legacy, emphasizing national unity in all government projects.
