VBA has requested privacy for the family as they prepare for upcoming state assembly elections, which Ambedkar has been actively campaigning for, advocating for the representation of marginalized communities.

Prakash Ambedkar, the chief of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), was hospitalized after experiencing chest pain on Thursday morning. According to a statement from the VBA, Ambedkar is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) being treated for a blood clot in his heart. His condition is reported to be stable, and he is scheduled to undergo angiography within the hour.
The VBA has requested that the Ambedkar family be given privacy during this time and will not be taking questions from the media. Following Ambedkar's hospitalization, VBA’s state president, Rekha Tai Thakur, will take over the campaign for the upcoming Maharashtra state assembly elections, with assistance from the party's Election Coordination Committee, Manifesto Committee, and Media and Research Department.
Prakash Ambedkar is the grandson of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and a key figure in the Dalit rights movement in Maharashtra. He founded the VBA to represent the interests of marginalized communities, including Dalits, Other Backward Classes (OBCs), and Muslims. Ambedkar has been a vocal advocate for inclusive politics, often criticizing mainstream political parties for their failure to address social justice.
