Prime Minister Narendra Modi came for the first time in Ayodhya today since Ram Lalla idol was installed at the new Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in April. His visit coincides with the current election period of the Lok Sabha elections.

Modi started his Uttar Pradesh campaign in the morning at two different public rallies in Etawah and Dhaurahra. He continued his journey to Ayodhra(Sacred City) in the evening. The Prime Minister landed at around 7 pm and headed for the Ram Mandir where he offered his prayers and performed Puja before the consecrated Ram Lalla Deity.

This in fact was the very first visit of Prime Minister Modi since the Pran Pratishtha consecration ceremony of January 22nd when the Ram Lalla idol was ceremonially placed in the sanctum sanctorum. Senior priests and religious leaders did not hesitate to join him and pray with him.

Proceeding the temple visit, PM Modi had an almost 2-km-long motorcade during which he passed through the streets of Ayodhya. The 'Ram Path' course from Sugriva Fort to Lata Chowk was beautifully decorated with flowers, flags, and cultural shows. The roadside was flooded with people who were trying to take a glimpse of the PM at the 40 blocks designated as rally points along the way.

The security arrangement was tight, and the area was separated into sectors, each watched by police and anti-terror forces. Critical places like a church and an airport had increased security measures. Ayodhya administration had gone to a great extent to make the grand welcome for the Prime Minister's visit.

Modi's Ayodhya roadshow becomes a main event of the campaign in the run-up to the May 20th phase of the UP polling that includes the Ayodhya constituency. UP also has 10 of its seats going for polls in the third phase, which is on May 7th.
