Need for Prison Reforms in Uttar Pradesh

The current state law, the Prisoners Act, 1900 is one that had been formulated in the pre-British era. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said, “The purpose of the Jail Act 1894 is to keep the criminals in custody in a disciplined Manner, but we have to focus on reformation and rehabilitation.
