Punjab has mobilized ten cabinet ministers to border districts to evaluate hospitals, fire stations, and supply chains amid India–Pakistan hostilities. Residents in Amritsar were advised to stay indoors and blackout homes. The inspections follow recent drone attacks and artillery exchanges, highlighting the need for heightened emergency readiness.

Amid escalating India–Pakistan tensions and recent cross-border exchanges of fire, the Punjab government has dispatched ten cabinet ministers to inspect emergency preparedness in border districts. The move, announced by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), aims to ensure essential services are fortified against potential crises.
A high-level review of medical, fire, and supply infrastructures is scheduled today. Following the weekly cabinet meeting, ministers will immediately depart for their assigned border areas to assess hospital readiness, firefighting capabilities, and the stockpiling of food and other critical supplies.
Ministers Lal Chand Kataruchakk and Dr. Ravjot Singh will oversee operations in Gurdaspur, while Kuldeep Dhaliwal and Mohinder Bhagat will lead the inspection in Amritsar. The remaining six ministers will similarly monitor emergency services across Ferozepur, Fazilka, and other vulnerable districts.
In Amritsar, the District Public Relations Officer urged residents to stay indoors, switch off lights, and draw curtains until further notice. “There is no cause for panic,” the DPRO stated. “A siren will sound, and we will keep everyone informed as the situation evolves.”
The DPRO also praised the armed forces for their vigilant defense and appealed for public cooperation. “Our security personnel are on duty, and citizens can support them by following safety advisories,” the official added, emphasizing calm and unity in the face of external threats.
