Punjab YouTuber Jasbir Singh was arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan and erasing links with intelligence operatives after another YouTuber, Jyoti Malhotra, was caught. Authorities suspect a wider espionage-terror network spanning northern India and are investigating contacts with Pakistani handlers and trips to Pakistan made by the accused.

In a significant breakthrough, Punjab Police arrested Jasbir Singh, a YouTuber from Rupnagar who allegedly worked with Pakistani handlers in an active espionage network. Singh, who runs the popular YouTube channel Jaan Mahal, is now at the center of an extensive investigation led by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Mohali.
According to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, Singh attended Pakistan’s National Day event in Delhi, where he met Pakistani military officials and vloggers. He had visited Pakistan three times between 2020 and 2024, and digital forensic analysis of his devices has revealed multiple contacts with Pakistan-based numbers. The authorities believe Singh tried to wipe his digital trail following the arrest of fellow YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra.
Malhotra, who operates the channel Travel with JO, was arrested weeks earlier in Hisar under charges of communicating with Pakistani intelligence operatives, notably Ehsan-ur-Rahim, a Pakistani high commission staffer expelled by India in May. Though she lacked direct access to military secrets, investigators confirmed her awareness of the nature of her contacts.
Singh’s arrest comes amid rising concerns over a suspected spy ring operating across northern India. So far, at least 12 people have been arrested from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh in connection with this network. Authorities believe the espionage operation may be tied to broader terror efforts and are working to identify all individuals involved.

The Punjab Police, along with central agencies like the National Investigation Agency and Intelligence Bureau, are now intensifying their efforts to dismantle the alleged spy network. Officials reaffirm their commitment to national security and warn that all anti-national elements will be brought to justice.
