Putin Embarrases Himself among Foreign Diplomats : Things Get Awkward

    Russian President Vladimir Putin experiences an awkward and embarrassing situation as his speech didn't get applauded at the ceremony held at Grand Kremlin Palace.

    In the ceremony to accord diplomatic credentials to 17 newly appointed foreign ambassadors President Putin delivered a speech in which he blamed the United States and European Union ambassadors for a breakdown of relations with Russia following its Ukraine's invasion. He added that the U.S.'s support for Ukraine in 2014 has led to this invasion.

 

      After his speech got concluded, Putin expected an applause and waited for some time but no one clapped.

 

     In a video shared by Anton Gerashchenko, a Ukrainian internal minister's advisor on Twitter, Putin can be noticed slightly smiling as he concluded his speech and exchanged brief nods with the ambassadors. He then wished them "All the best" and returned from the podium thereby concluding the ceremony.

 

    The Ukrainian Advisor also wrote in the tweet, "No one applauded Putin after he finished his speech at the ceremony of ambassadors presenting their credentials in the Kremlin. Putin waited for applause as he finished talking but none came,” he added, mocking the Russian President.

 

     However, there has been no official confirmation on this absence of applause after Putin's speech to be a show of respect or a mere protocol. This comes in the backdrop of another humiliating incident where in a viral video Putin can be seen getting embarrassed as he waited for global leaders.
