20th August, 2023 marks 79th Birth Anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi. He took office as the Prime Minister of India at the age of 40, making him the country's youngest-ever Prime Minister.


Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress figure and Lok Sabha MP, who is currently touring Ladakh, took a motorcycle journey to Pangong Lake over the weekend. The Congress party shared images of him riding a bike on its official social media account (formerly Twitter). Simultaneously, Rahul Gandhi himself posted pictures of his bike excursion on his Instagram account. He captioned it with, "Heading to Pangong Lake, a place my father often described as one of the most stunning locations in the world."

August 20 is celebrated as Sadbhavana Diwas in honor of India's sixth Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi. It promotes goodwill, peace, national integration, and communal harmony. Various cultural events and tournaments are organized nationwide, and people pledge to foster peace and harmony in their surroundings. Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary is today marked with the same. 


Sadbhavana Diwas was established in 1992, following the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi by the LTTE in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, nearly a year earlier.
