Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday reaffirmed India's claim over Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), stressing its integral status within India.
Speaking at a "security conclave" in Jammu, Singh dismissed Pakistan's reiterate claims, asserting that their occupation holds no legitimacy.
Singh highlighted the unanimous resolutions passed by the Indian Parliament, solidifying the POK as an inseparable part of India.
He also emphasized that three proposals have been successfully adopted, reflecting India's stance.
Addressing the audience, Singh acknowledged the unfortunate reality of a significant portion of Jammu and Kashmir under Pakistan's control. However, he emphasized that people on the other side yearn for the peace enjoyed in Indian-controlled J-K, recognizing the suffering in POK.
Shifting focus to Article 370's abrogation, Singh praised the BJP for rectifying the injustice faced by J-K's people. He criticized Articles 370 and 35A for isolating them and impeding action against anti-national forces.
Singh expressed satisfaction with the decision, asserting public support. He acknowledged dissent from those favoring separatism, as their avenues diminished.
Highlighting anti-terrorism achievements, Singh announced success in curbing terrorist financing, weapons smuggling, and drug trafficking. Efforts to dismantle underground networks are ongoing.
Singh cited the Joint Statement by Prime Minister Modi and US President Biden, signifying global recognition of India's approach to terrorism.
He also stressed that nations using terrorism as state policy face a united international front.
Regarding border disputes, Singh acknowledged differences with China. Existing agreements and protocols govern border patrols, established through past administrations.
Singh attributed tensions in East Ladakh to China's disregard for protocols. Indian troops successfully countered unilateral changes along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Concluding, Singh praised effective anti-terrorism measures and the removal of AFSPA in Northeast India. He expressed hope for permanent peace in J-K and eventual AFSPA removal.
