External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said the world must adopt zero tolerance for terrorism after India’s Operation Sindoor strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. Backed across party lines, the strikes were in response to the Pahalgam massacre, marking a strong, unified stand against cross-border terrorism.

In his first reaction to Operation Sindoor, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s position on global counter-terrorism, stating that the world must adopt a policy of zero tolerance for terrorism. His remarks came hours after India executed precision strikes on nine terror facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), targeting groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Taking to X, Jaishankar wrote, “The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism,” signalling that India’s message goes beyond its borders and is aimed at building global consensus on the urgency to dismantle terror safe havens.
Political reactions to the operation cut across party lines, with both government and opposition leaders supporting the strikes. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh echoed national sentiment with a brief but impactful “Bharat Mata ki Jai” post. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav stated that India’s response was a reflection of its unity and resolve, asserting that “140 crore Indians stand with the Army and the Government in this fight against terrorism.”
BJD MP Sasmit Patra described the operation as “the resolute voice of a united nation,” and AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi also welcomed the military action, emphasizing that “Pakistan’s terror infrastructure must be destroyed to prevent another Pahalgam.”

Operation Sindoor was launched in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which left 26 people dead. It marked a rare joint military operation involving the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The Defence Ministry called the strikes “focused, measured and non-escalatory,” reaffirming India’s commitment to strategic restraint even amid provocation.
