Seven JeM terrorists were killed by the BSF while attempting to infiltrate through the Samba sector in Jammu. The operation, backed by Pakistani fire, was repelled with damage to the Pakistan Rangers' post. This comes amid increased border attacks and India's Operation Sindoor in response to the recent Pahalgam terror strike.

Seven heavily armed infiltrators suspected to be from the banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were shot dead by the Border Security Force (BSF) during a failed infiltration attempt in Jammu’s Samba sector. The incident took place on the night of May 8-9, as part of heightened cross-border hostilities between India and Pakistan.
According to BSF officials, the attempted breach was detected through their surveillance grid and was supported by heavy gunfire from the Pakistan Rangers' Dhandhar outpost. In retaliation, BSF personnel launched a coordinated counter-operation, successfully neutralizing the infiltrators and inflicting extensive damage on the enemy post that was providing covering fire. The force remains on maximum alert as tensions escalate along the border following a series of terror-related incidents.
This infiltration attempt came amidst a broader offensive by Pakistan’s armed forces, who launched multiple coordinated attacks across India’s western border using drones and artillery. Indian military sources confirmed that these attempts, including ceasefire violations across the Line of Control, were effectively repelled.
The BSF operation is being seen as part of India’s larger counter-terror strategy, known as Operation Sindoor, initiated in response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, mostly tourists. In the wake of these provocations, India has conducted precision strikes on terror camps inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
