Fresh revelations in the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi have deepened the gravity of the crime, with Meghalaya Police confirming that his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, allegedly paid ₹20 lakh to contract killers for executing the murder. The shocking incident occurred during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, just days after their wedding.

According to officials, Sonam initially handed over ₹15,000 taken from Raja’s wallet at the scene, later promising the killers up to ₹15 lakh. One officer stated that Sonam insisted the murder be carried out when the hired men hesitated, allegedly offering even more money to ensure it was done.

Sonam surrendered in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, and was transported to Shillong via Patna, Kolkata, and Guwahati. Her transfer came shortly after the arrest of her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha, and three accomplices who posed as tourists before murdering Raja with a machete in the East Khasi Hills on May 23.

The FIR confirms that Raja was killed with a "dao" and robbed. Police say Sonam pretended to be tired as they neared the site, allowing the killers to position themselves behind Raja before attacking him. His body was found days later in a gorge near a waterfall in Sohra.

Investigators believe Sonam and Kushwaha planned the murder in Indore. While Kushwaha claims to have backed out at the last moment, he remained in contact with Sonam throughout the incident. Authorities are now preparing to recreate the crime scene with Sonam and the accused to verify the sequence of events and gather more evidence.

As the investigation continues, police are focused on unravelling the full conspiracy behind the murder that has shocked the nation.
