Tesla Cuts Employees, Tribe India, After 7 Years Since Being Promoted Recently

An Indian software engineer at Tesla, despite working for 7 years and recently being promoted, was laid off amidst the company's mass job cuts, leaving her devastated after years of dedicated service.

An Indian software engineer at Tesla is left shattered after the firm laid her off though those 7 years of hard work there including the promotion last month indicate otherwise.  

The employee who has not been identified was among thousands of Tesla workers who were laid off in the recent round of mass cuts at the company. The tragedy of her brother reaching out via LinkedIn published by Jatin Saini left her family in the most devastating condition. 

The email, sent by Tesla to Saini's sister, read "Your position has been eliminated due to this restructuring process," amid seven years that she had spent.  And it was a period just after she got her promotion and was about to relocate from New Jersey to Washington DC. 

"She is not alone. On April 15, Tesla released a statement that says that up to 16,000 employees will be terminated. Lastly, the massive payouts were followed by another 500 employees' layoff 15 days later. 2 days back, she also had an email, just like other 75% members of her team," Saini added.

He said what it meant to him that the morning after his sister sent an email of gratitude to her company where she had worked passionately for more than seven years she also received the termination mail with one paragraph.

Elon Musk, the CEO of the company, had informed about the 10% job cuts in Tesla's global operations, given the economic pressure and difficulties that the company was facing in terms of ramping up production. The layoffs started in late April, cutting jobs at all levels of the divisions.

Meanwhile, the layoff of the Indian engineer is considered as an enormous obstacle to his personal and professional achievement, and having recently clocked a career promotion after years of dedication.

For the job cuts done by Tesla, the company has been criticized over the way it handled the dismissals.  Many of the former employees expressed jolt and dismay at the instant termination following years of dedicated employment at the vehicle maker that was the pioneer of electric cars.
