Texas Republican candidate Valentina Gomez sparked national outrage by burning the Quran with a flamethrower and declaring her goal to “end Islam.” Critics call it dangerous incitement, not politics. Gomez, known for past violent stunts and inflammatory rhetoric, continues to push hate-driven narratives ahead of her 2026 congressional run.

Valentina Gomez, a Republican congressional candidate for Texas’ 31st district, has ignited national outrage after posting a video in which she burns the Quran with a flamethrower while declaring her intent to “end Islam” in Texas. The footage, shared on social media, features Gomez delivering a hate-filled speech before setting fire to the holy book, calling Muslims “terrorists” and claiming America belongs solely to Christians.
The incident, widely condemned as an act of religious hatred, is the latest in a series of violent and inflammatory stunts by the far-right candidate. Previously, in December 2024, Gomez filmed herself simulating the execution of an immigrant—a dummy tied to a chair and shot—sparking international backlash, including criticism from Colombian President Gustavo Petro, who noted the irony of Gomez being an immigrant herself.
In her latest post, Gomez justified her actions by referencing terrorist attacks and accused her critics of supporting extremists. She also directly attacked Jewish organizations and continued to promote aggressive, exclusionary rhetoric online.
Many across the political spectrum have denounced the video. Social media users, civil rights advocates, and community leaders have labeled her actions as dangerous incitement rather than political speech. Critics warn that her behavior encourages violence and undermines core American values like freedom of religion.

Despite backlash, Gomez remains defiant, using religious language to frame her campaign and claiming divine support. Her campaign strategy, centered on provocation and extremism, has drawn attention but also raised serious questions about the state of political discourse and the normalization of hate.
