Its really amazing and thrilling to think of trains maneuvering like a bike. Yes, you read it right. Tilting trains will be a reality in India now.
Modi government is in the process of starting this unique and amazing model in Railways very soon. India will manufacture these tilting trains by 2025-26.
Indian railway department is all set to bring tilting trains into the country. Trains will be manufactured under Vande Bharat trains project.
Out of total 400 Vande Bharat trains to be built by 2025-26, 100 will be designed on the model of tilting trains. This information was released by the reports of PTI .
The technology used in manufacturing the trains will enable trains to maneuver curves at higher speeds like a motorbike does on a windy road.
PTI cited the senior officials of the Railways stating that we will be having tilting trains in the country and tying up with a technology partner. We will likely have this technology in 100 Vande Bharat trains over the next two to three years.
Tilting trains enable higher speeds on regular broad-gauge tracks where they tilt to negotiate a curve on the track. The technology used in these trains will increase the speed of trains.
Is India the First Country to introduce this?
With this amazing news it is obvious to come to our mind if there is any other country which is having tilting trains in operation. The answer to this question is in affirmative.
There are eleven countries in the world which have operational trains with this technology. These countries are-Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Finland, Russia, the Czech Republic, the UK, Switzerland, China, Germany, and Romania. Now India will be included in this list.
Let’s understand the working and sitting experience of a passenger on such trains. An official explained that as trains negotiated a curve at speed, the objects would also slide about.
While seated passengers feel squashed by the armrest, standing passengers tend to lose balance as the train has a higher speed.
