Tragic Incident Unfolds in UP: Brother Jumps into Canal to Save Sibling, Both Missing

A young girl, upset by her mother's scolding, took a leap into the Ramganga Canal, and in a brave but ill-fated attempt to save the girl, her differently-abled brother also jumped in. 

However, both of them are now missing, and a frantic rescue operation is in progress to locate them.

The incident occurred in the Dubepur village, falling under the Bakewar police station jurisdiction. It all began when, on Tuesday morning, the mother scolded her daughter for an undisclosed reason. Overcome by anger, the girl walked nearly three kilometers from her village to the Ramganga Canal bridge in Devmai Nichli, where she made a fateful leap into the canal. 

In a tragic twist of events, her differently-abled brother, who was following her from behind, saw her peril and attempted to rescue her by diving into the fast-flowing waters as well.

Local villagers, distressed by the unfolding tragedy, made desperate efforts to locate the siblings but found no trace of them. Subsequently, the police launched a rescue operation, enlisting the aid of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team. 

However, the relentless rush of the water has made it challenging to locate the missing brother and sister.

As time ticks away, the community's anxiety is on the rise. The rescue operation was halted last night due to darkness but is set to resume this morning (August 30). 

The local SDRF, Flood Relief teams, and experienced divers from the community continue their joint efforts to rescue the siblings.
