After Pakistan nominated him for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, Donald Trump claimed he deserved the award “four or five times” for his role in global diplomacy. Citing India-Pakistan and Congo-Rwanda conflicts, Trump accused the Nobel Committee of bias, saying they “only give it to liberals.”

US President Donald Trump reignited his long-standing grievances with the Nobel Peace Prize committee after Pakistan formally nominated him for the 2026 award. Citing his diplomatic role in de-escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, as well as efforts in conflict zones like the Congo and Rwanda, Trump argued he should have received the prestigious award multiple times by now.

“I should have gotten the Nobel Peace Prize four or five times,” Trump told reporters on Friday. “They won’t give me because they only give it to liberals.” His comments followed Pakistan's official statement praising Trump’s “decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership” during the recent India-Pakistan crisis. The nomination was made public by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry through a post on X.

During his remarks, Trump also claimed that a peace deal between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda would be signed soon, though independent confirmation of such a treaty — or America’s involvement in brokering it — has not emerged. The Congo-Rwanda conflict has recently seen heightened violence, and Trump hinted at the agreement as another example of his underappreciated peacemaking efforts.

This is not Trump’s first brush with the Nobel Peace Prize. He previously received nominations for facilitating the Abraham Accords, a series of normalization deals between Israel and Arab nations. Despite multiple endorsements from allies and supporters, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has never awarded him the prize.

While Pakistan lauds Trump for reducing regional tensions, India has repeatedly rejected his claims of mediating between the two nuclear neighbors. Nonetheless, Trump remains undeterred, using the spotlight to question what he sees as political bias in global recognition.
