Former President Trump will sit for a virtual probation interview Monday from Mar-a-Lago ahead of sentencing for his felony conviction in the NY hush-money case. The interview will inform the judge's decision on Trump's punishment.

Former President Donald Trump will also be taking his probation interview on Monday from his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. It is a part of the sentencing after Trump was convicted last month for 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the New York hush-money case.
In the long-distance interview, a probation officer from New York City will interview Trump, and Trump’s lawyer, Todd Blanche will be available to answer the questions posed. He will have to interview Trump to prepare the pre-sentencing report for Juan Merchan who is expected to sentence Trump on the 11th of July.
The pre-sentencing reports include details of the defendant’s work history, criminal history, financial situation, and housing situation for the sentencing. For Trump, the 77-year-old first-ever former U. S. president to be criminally convicted, the interview is an opportunity to perform for a lenient sentence.
This is why most legal scholars think that Trump will not spend a single day in prison because of his age and lack of any prior criminal history. He was convicted of making a criminal scheme to make payments to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 elections regarding the alleged affair with her.
This is a rather unconventional approach given that such interviews are typically conducted in person. However, officials may have wanted to avert any disturbances from Trump attending a courthouse in Manhattan.
