Over 20 passengers are in critical condition with spinal injuries after a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore experienced massive turbulence that made the plane land in Bangkok on Tuesday.

The fiasco claimed the life of a British passenger, who died of a suspected heart attack, and left dozens injured, some seriously, following the impact of the Boeing 777 by stormy turbulence en route over the Indian Ocean. Some passengers complained of feeling the plane drop and those who were not strapped in their seats were flung up towards the ceiling.

During a tour at one of the Bangkok hospitals with the injured, the director was able to disclose that out of the injured 41 passengers were still in the hospital – half of them in critical condition. There were twenty-two with spinal cord injuries, and six in critical condition with severe head and neck trauma. Damage includes head injuries such as skull fractures and head injuries, muscular, spinal, and serious soft tissue injuries.

“It was like a horror movie,” the Filipino woman, visibly shaken, began to tell her story. ‘Everyone was shouting and some bags went up in the air, everyone believed that we were going to die. ”

Among the severely injured people, there is a two-year-old child diagnosed with a concussion. They are from a 3-year-old to 83-year-old and from the United Kingdom, Australia, Malaysia, Philippines, and other countries.

When the Singapore authorities assured of a thorough investigation, Singapore Airlines Chief Executive Officer Goh Choon Phong expressed his sorrow saying “We are indeed very sad and wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. ”
