Two individuals, including CPI(M) leader Kalatan Dasgupta, have been arrested for allegedly planning an attack on junior doctors protesting the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. The arrests came after Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh released an audio clip, suggesting a conspiracy to incite violence against the protesting doctors to tarnish the image of the Mamata Banerjee government.

The audio clip allegedly features two men discussing plans to attack the doctors and then blame it on the ruling TMC. Following the release of the clip, the Kolkata Police initiated a suo motu case and increased security at the protest site.
