Kangana Ranaut, once again donning the director's hat, has revealed the release date for her upcoming film "Emergency," where she takes on the role of the late former Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. With her striking body language and mannerisms, she had stunned the nation when she unveiled her first look as Gandhi almost a year ago. The announcement video holds significance as it coincides with the 48th anniversary of the declaration of the Emergency in India. The clip also features Anupam Kher portraying Indian socialist leader Jaiprakash Narayan, seen behind bars. 


Notably, Kangana previously showcased her directorial skills in parts of "Manikarnika," in which she portrayed Queen Laxmibai, a key figure in the 1857 uprising against the British Empire.

In an Instagram post, Kangana Ranaut shared a gripping video announcing the release date of "Emergency." She captioned it with thought-provoking words: "A protector or a Dictator? Witness the darkest phase of our history when the leader of our nation declared a war on its people. #Emergency releasing worldwide on 24th November." The powerful clip features newspaper headlines and TV broadcasts declaring the imposition of Emergency nationwide, accompanied by visuals of curfews. Anupam Kher, in the voiceover as Jayaprakash, speaks about the need to halt this tyranny, urging a rebellion against the ruling government's dictatorship. 


Amidst it all, Kangana's voice resounds as she declares, "Nobody can stop me from defending my country because India is Indira and Indira is India."

The screenplay is crafted by Ritesh Shah, while the story is penned by the talented actress herself. This period-drama boasts an impressive cast, including the late Satish Kaushik, Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, and Milind Soman, in pivotal roles.
