Experts from the weather department explained that the high humidity levels in the air, combined with a substantial contrast between the temperatures during the day and night, created favorable conditions for the fog to form. Shallow fog is defined by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) as having visibility between 501 and 1,000 meters.
