Earthquakes are a common occurrence in California, which is known for its seismic activity. They often result in little to no property damage. Earlier this year, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake struck northwest of Los Angeles, affecting a large area but causing no significant damage.
California has a history of significant earthquakes. For example, the 1994 Northridge earthquake caused extensive damage and loss of life, and the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake had severe impacts in the San Francisco Bay Area. These events remind residents of the importance of preparedness in this earthquake-prone region.
