Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi attracted attention when she was captured briskly Walking and then running in response to questions about the protesting wrestlers.
As she hurried towards her car, Lekhi exclaimed, "Chalo, chalo, chalo" when asked about the protesting wrestlers. Her response was, "Legal process is going on."
The incident occurred before the wrestlers went to Haridwar to immerse their medals, a plan that was interrupted by farmer leader Naresh Tikait, who set a five-day deadline to address their demands.
Congress has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, claiming that it is "anti-daughter" for defending individuals accused of sexual exploitation instead of supporting the women who have brought honor to the nation.
Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the Congress party, accused the prime minister of delivering extensive speeches about respecting women while simultaneously safeguarding those accused of mistreating them.
For over a month, the wrestlers have been protesting in Delhi, calling for the arrest of BJP MP and Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
On Tuesday, the wrestlers decided to escalate their protest by immersing their medals in the Ganga River.
However, they were prevented from doing so by farmer leader Naresh Tikait, who took their medals and requested a five-day period to fulfill their demands.
Brij Bhushan Singh commented on the matter, stating that the Delhi Police were investigating and there was nothing more to be done at this point.
He added, "Aage aage dekhiye hota hai kya" (let's see what happens). FIRs have been filed based on their complaints. If I am found guilty, I will be arrested. What's the problem with that?" Brij Bhushan said.
The wrestlers' protest has seen significant recent developments.
1. The United World Wrestling has released a statement expressing its strong disapproval of the police intervention during the recent demonstration where protesters were arrested while marching towards the newly constructed Parliament building on Sunday.
2. The World body stated that it may suspend the Wrestling Federation of India if the election deadline is not met, which would require the athletes to compete under a neutral flag.
3. Former Indian cricket captain Anil Kumble expressed his support for the protesting wrestlers in a tweet, expressing dismay at the incident and emphasizing the importance of resolving issues through dialogue.
4. Naresh Tikait announced that there would be a Khap meeting to discuss the issue after stopping the wrestlers from immersing their medals in the Ganga.
5. The Samayukta Kisan Morcha has announced a nationwide demonstration scheduled for June 1, expressing solidarity with the wrestlers.
