Accusations of sexual harassment against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have intensified as protesting wrestlers claim that he is using his influence to coerce victims into changing their statements.

The wrestlers have threatened to resume their protests if strong action is not taken against Singh by June 15.

In a show of strength and support, Singh has organized a rally in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, to mark nine years of the Modi-led government in the Centre.

The event, which was initially planned for Ayodhya on June 5, is now set to take place on Sunday with the presence of Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Minister Mohan Yadav as the chief guest.

Olympic bronze medallist Sakshi Malik has declared that wrestlers will refuse to participate in the upcoming Asian Games unless the issue is fully resolved. The trials for the Asian Games are scheduled to be held later this month, and all wrestlers, including those involved in the protest, are required to compete and earn their spots in the Indian team.

Malik has alleged that pressure is being exerted on the protesters to compromise, and she claimed that a minor wrestler who accused Singh of sexual harassment changed her statement under pressure.

Malik further stated that individuals associated with Singh have been calling and threatening the protesters.

During a meeting with Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, the wrestlers were given assurance that a charge sheet would be filed against Singh by June 15, leading to a temporary suspension of their protest.

However, Malik emphasized that their movement against the WFI chief would continue if substantial action is not taken.

In addition to the wrestlers' allegations, international referee Jagbir Singh has come forward in support of the protesters, claiming that he witnessed Singh's inappropriate behavior towards female grapplers on multiple occasions since 2013.

The Delhi Police have intensified their investigation into the sexual harassment allegations. They recently took a woman wrestler to Singh's office to reconstruct the sequence of events related to the alleged crimes.

As the situation unfolds, the wrestlers remain firm in their demand for justice and are prepared to resume their protest if their grievances are not addressed by the specified deadline.
