SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2023
The exam patterns for both Tiers of SSC CGL are different. There is only one paper in the first tier while the second one has 3 papers. The details of the same are given below.
SSC CGL Tier I Exam Pattern
- The SSC will conduct a Tier I computer-based test that consists of 100 multiple-choice questions.
- SSC CGL Tier I will consist of 4 sections with a total of 200 marks.
- The questions will be set both in English & Hindi except for English Comprehension.
- There will be a negative marking of 0.50 (¼) for each wrong answer.

SSC CGL Tier II Exam Pattern
SSC CGL Tier II will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions except for DEST Test. Candidates eligible for scribe will get an extra 20 minutes for 1 hour time.
- Paper 1 is compulsory for all posts.
- Paper 2 is for only JSO Post.
- Paper 3 is for only Assistant Account Officer and Assistant Audit Officer.
- There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-I, Section-II, and Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I and 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II and Paper-III.
- The duration for Paper 1 is 60 Minutes for each section.
- The duration for Paper 2 and 3 is 2 Hours for each paper
