On their way to Budaun to collect water from the Ganga River, Kanwariyas became the targets of stone pelting near Shahnoori mosque in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.
At least 12 Kanwariyas were injured after some miscreants pelted stones on them near a mosque located in the Jogi Nawada area in Bareilly.
The injured devotees were quickly taken to a nearby hospital for necessary medical treatment and care.
As per the police, following the stone-pelting incident, the devotees staged a protest in the area, demanding appropriate action against those responsible for attacking them.
In response to the situation, the Additional District Magistrate (City), R D Pandey, assured that the situation in the area has returned to normal. To ensure the safety and security of the public, the authorities have deployed additional police forces in the region.
Uttar Pradesh Minister Arun Kumar, who is also the MLA from Bareilly, addressed the situation. He expressed his concern over the attempts by certain elements that want to create tension and disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the state. He ensured that "an impartial probe will be conducted, and those found guilty will be given strict punishment."
Pavan Arora, an office bearer of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, stated that they have successfully convinced the Kanwariyas to move forward and continue their journey to Budaun.
