70-Year-Old Man Beats Woman To Death In Rajasthan, Claimed To Be ‘Lord Shiva avatar’

In a deeply disturbing incident that has gained widespread attention on social media, a 70-year-old man from Udaipur, Rajasthan, has been taken into custody for the brutal beating and fatal assault of an 85-year-old woman. 

The man, identified as Pratap Singh Rajput, claimed he believed himself to be a reincarnation of Lord Shiva and was convinced that he could revive the woman after her death.

The shocking video of the incident went viral online, causing outrage among viewers. Alongside the tragic assault itself, the footage also captured the callousness of some witnesses who chose to record the incident rather than come to the woman's aid. Among those arrested were a local individual named Nathu Singh and two juveniles who were present at the scene.

The distressing video shows the elderly woman, belonging to a tribal community, enduring repeated strikes with an umbrella and kicks from the accused near the Mahadev temple in Tarpal village. Despite her pleas for mercy, the assailant continued his vicious attack, fueled by intoxication and a misguided belief in his divine identity.

During questioning by the authorities, Pratap Singh admitted to his heinous act, explaining that he thought he possessed the divine powers of Lord Shiva and could bring the woman back to life after her demise.

Tragically, the woman's life could not be saved, as some bystanders chose to prioritise recording the event rather than offering assistance.

The woman's son reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of the four individuals involved. This alarming incident has raised concerns about the need for greater awareness and understanding of mental health issues, as well as the importance of overcoming bystander apathy during such distressing incidents.
