During the downtime, users who attempted to access the platform using the browser or mobile app got a notification indicating a problem. Along with chatting, users were no longer able to use other WhatsApp features, such as making audio and video calls.

According to news agency Reuters, over 17,000 users reported problems with the chat network. The news agency cited Downdetector, a website that tracks outages by compiling status updates from several sources, including errors given by users.

Reuters reports that around 30,000 users in India, 95,000 users in Brazil, and about 67,000 users in the UK have all reported issues with the website.

According to Down detector, 3,200 users in the US were having problems with Instagram.

WhatsApp said on X following the outage, "We are working on getting things back to 100% for everyone as quickly as possible." This statement was released in response to recent complaints of problems that some users were experiencing.
