Armed Nihangs Carry Out Police Vehicle Attacks Demanding Release of Sikh Prisoners: 30 Cops Injured

  On 8th February 2023 (Wednesday), disturbing visuals surfaced in which protestors demanding the release of Sikh prisoners tried to reach Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, however, the protestors armed with swords and lathis clashed with the police vehicles and engaged with them violently. The Police Vehicle Attacks: 30 Cops Injured Massive police vehicle attacks were carried out by the armed Nihangs at Sector 52/53 dividing road of the Chandigarh- Mohali border where the police had put up barricades. The armed Nihangs had gathered at around 1 p.m. and turned violent with the cops in order to cross the barricades and reach Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann. During the police vehicle attacks, the armed Nihangs used tractors to demolish the police vehicles and unfurled their flags. 1. The armed Nihangs demanded the release of Sikh prisoners across many jails whose sentences were complete but they had not been released by the State.
2. Not only were the demands regarding the release of Sikh prisoners, but also against the politicians and officials responsible for action against the Sikh protestors at Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan. The armed Nihangs pleaded that a murder case must be registered against them.
