In a shocking turn of events, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar has accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav of orchestrating a "pre-planned conspiracy" and resorting to excessive force during a protest march. The BJP worker, Vijay Singh, tragically lost his life during a police lathi-charge, while many others sustained injuries.
Following the incident, Krishna Singh, a BJP worker, has filed a complaint against Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav, Patna SSP Rajeev Mishra, and DM Chandrashekhar Singh in Patna's civil court, accusing them of "murdering" Vijay Singh. The complaint has invoked sections 302, 307, 341, and 323 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The BJP has formed a four-member committee comprising party MPs to investigate the alleged use of excessive force. The party claims that CCTV footage contradicts the administration's stance, as it reportedly shows Vijay Singh not present at the Dak Bungalow crossing when the police used force. Furthermore, authorities have stated that doctors found no injury marks on his body.
The BJP has not held back in its criticism, drawing a historical parallel between Nitish Kumar and Brigadier General Reginald Dyer, infamous for his involvement in the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Demanding Nitish Kumar's resignation, the BJP likened the police lathi-charge to barbarism reminiscent of Dyer's brutal methods of suppressing protests.
As the BJP intensifies its demands for justice and accountability, the state of Bihar finds itself embroiled in controversy. The outcome of the court case and the committee's investigation will be crucial in determining the future course of events and the political landscape in the state.
