Former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who is also the BJP’s in-charge of Haryana, has slammed state Congress leader Udai Bhan for allegedly using derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The developments came after Bhan on Saturday sparked controversy by using derogatory language while addressing Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
"The language used by the Haryana Congress Chief shows the perverted mindset of the Congress Party,” Deb wrote on micro-blogging site X.
He further questioned, "Is this Rahul Gandhi's house of love (Mohabat ki Dukaan). Has any opposition leader criticised this? Has the Congress asked its state chief to apologise."
It is worth mentioning that the derogatory language against PM Modi has caused anger among BJP leaders, who have now demanded an apology from Udai Bhan, and are pressing for appropriate action to be taken against him.
In 2022, Udai Bhan, known for his loyalty to former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, was appointed the Haryana Congress chief. He took over this position from Kumari Selja, who was appointed as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in charge of Chhattisgarh.
When questioned about his controversial remarks, Udai Bhan maintained his stance, explaining that his words were a form of Haryanvi slang and not meant to be taken in a derogatory manner.
Udai Bhan defended his remarks, stating, "What have I said that is wrong…I have only described the truth. Is this language wrong, this is a normal language inHaryana. We call unmarried men by this slang in Haryana and that is not abuse."
He further explained, "I have only spoken the truth. If I had said something wrong, like what was said by that MP, I would have apologized. This is just a light comment made at a press conference which has been made into a needless issue. This is the normal language used in Haryana."
