New Delhi, March 15: In a major turn of events in the national capital's high-profile excise policy case, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha has been remanded to judicial custody until April 23.

The decision was made by Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Monday, following the conclusion of her three-day police custody.

Kavitha, who is the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, was initially detained by the Enforcement Directorate on allegations related to the excise policy case. She was then transferred to Tihar Jail, marking her as the third key political figure apprehended in this ongoing investigation, following the earlier arrests of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh.

In an unprecedented move within the scope of this case, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was also taken into custody on March 21, becoming the first sitting chief minister to be arrested linked to this investigation.

The case, which has drawn extensive media coverage and public scrutiny, revolves around alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the excise policy.

The specifics of the policy were purportedly manipulated to benefit certain individuals and entities at the expense of the public treasury.

Legal proceedings are ongoing, and the implications of these high-profile arrests are expected to resonate across the political landscape, influencing public opinion and the workings of the involved parties.
