After the actor and martial artist from Hong Kong showed off his moves on the big screen, martial arts gained enormous popularity in the west. The martial arts hybrid Jeet Kune Do was invented by Bruce Lee, a phenomenon that helped popularize the fighting style.

The legend, though, passed away far too soon. At the age of 32, Bruce Lee passed away in his sleep in 1973. Early in the year, cerebral edema was identified as his condition. Lee's brain had swollen up to 13% when the medical professionals discovered his condition, and after the autopsy, it was determined that he had died as a result of an allergic reaction to his painkiller.

A recent study found that Bruce Lee's edema was brought on by hyponatremia. According to the research, Bruce Lee's kidneys were unable to rid his body of water, which is why he died, and it was published in the Clinical Kidney Journal. In contrast to conspiracy theories about an apparent assassination, a lover's fight that resulted in his being poisoned, and many other bizarre what-ifs, the empirical study offers a novel perspective on the star's death.

The actor's death was attributed by researchers to hyponatremia. When a person drinks too much water, their body's sodium levels are diluted, which leads to the condition. The imbalance causes the body and brain's cells to swell.

According to the scientists who conducted the study, Bruce Lee had a number of risk factors for hyponatremia, including a high fluid intake, regular use of marijuana and other activities that would make him thirstier as well as habits that would make it difficult for his kidneys to excrete fluid, like using prescription medications and alcohol. Lee's life was subsequently hindered by his excessive water consumption.

The failure to excrete enough water to maintain water homeostasis, which is primarily a tubular function, is the type of kidney dysfunction that the researchers hypothesized caused Bruce Lee's death.

They further explained that if excessive water is not balanced by water excretion in urine, which might result in hyponatremia, cerebral edema (brain swelling), and death within a few hours. That was the case with Bruce Lee which caused his death.

The actor was well-known for following a fluid diet to stay in shape. His wife, Linda Lee Cadwell, once disclosed that he had followed a "carrot and apple juice" diet. According to the researchers, Lee's death was caused by drinking too much water. It is so strange that Lee made the quote famous, ‘Be water my friend’ but ironically this quote didn’t justify him, rather it took his life.
