Actor
and politician Kamal Haasan accused the federal government led by the Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP) of embezzling money intended for the state of Tamil Nadu.
While supporting DMK candidate KE Prakash on Friday in Erode, Tamil Nadu, the leader of the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) said that he has chosen to join his party with the ruling DMK for a number of reasons. He claimed that these reasons fall into six major categories.
Kamal Haasan claims that the union government has only given the state back 29 paise for every rupee that was contributed. He claims that the state has a limited amount of funding allotted by the federal government. Still, he claimed that states like Bihar received more money per rupee.
Haasan said his "brothers" also went to Tamil Nadu in pursuit of a "coolie" job, but he did not elaborate. It's unknown if the federal government's receipt of funds reached "brothers." Where is it supposed to end up? Kamal Haasan reportedly questioned, "(tax collected from Tamil Nadu and contributed to the Centre)" according to the news agency PTI.
Even though the East India firm was expelled from the country, the MNM leader also mentioned that a firm had arrived from West India. "It is a place where Gandhiji was born," he remarked, making a subtle reference to the birthplace of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
