Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated three newly
built warehouses and lay the foundation stones for two more through video
conference at the secretariat in an effort to significantly increase storage
capacity for farmers and traders in Tamil Nadu. Friday's event was planned to
highlight the state's urgent need for improved storage facilities.
Three new warehouses were constructed in the
districts of Pudukkottai, Ranipet, and Madurai with a total investment of Rs
7.20 crore, with the initiative's initial funding coming from the Tamil Nadu
Warehousing Corporation (TNWC). These cutting-edge warehouses can store 3,400
tonnes each, which is quite a lot. This occurred when Food and Consumer
Protection Minister R Sakkarapani pledged funding during the fiscal year
2021-22 budget request.
Additionally, Chief Minister MK Stalin lay the
cornerstones for two additional warehouses in the districts of Tirupur and
Tiruppathur at a total cost of Rs 6.4 crore.
To further demonstrate the government's dedication
to both economic growth and social welfare, the Chief Minister issued job
orders to 53 people who had been appointed by the corporation on compassionate
grounds.
Key authorities, such as Minister for Food and
Consumer Protection R Sakkarapani, TNWC chairman B Ranganathan, and other
dignitaries, were present at the occasion, highlighting the importance of this
project for the agricultural and economic prosperity of the state.
Tamil Nadu is committed to agricultural development
and welfare, and with these new warehouses and ongoing work to expand storage
capacity, the state is in a better position to offer greater support to its
farming community and boost trade opportunities.
