Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal on Monday sat on a protest at a hospital after her request was rejected to meet the minor girl who had been allegedly raped by her father's friend.

Maliwal complained about the lack of openness and the fact that she couldn't meet the survivor or her mother. She claimed that looking into the claim was her legal obligation.

Following her father's death in 2020, the youngster is said to have been sexually raped by the alleged government employee between October 2020 and February 2021.

A minor girl was sexually abused by the alleged civil servant who was the friend of her father from October 2020 to February 2021.

The abuse was reported to the authorities by a psychiatrist. The accused and his wife, who are suspected of providing the victim with abortion drugs, have been arrested and are being questioned.

Maliwal notified the Delhi government that he wanted the suspended official arrested and that he wanted complaints against him reopened. She pleaded for fairness and stressed the need of protecting women and children.

Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has demanded a report and ordered the accused officer to be suspended.

Government needs to increase the protection for women and support for their right by punishing the culprit

The government has pledged its support for women's rights and promised to punish those responsible for violence against them severely.

Anger and worry about child abuse have been sparked by the tragedy. Maliwal's protest highlights the need for openness and prompt response in similar situations. In view of the gravity of the situation and the necessity for accountability, the DCW director has promised to continue her protest until she is granted access to the survivor and her mother.
