Accused Sanjay Roy spent hours before the rape and murder of a Kolkata trainee doctor in red-light areas and engaged in disturbing behavior. Although he initially confessed to the crime, Roy later denied involvement, sparking widespread public outrage and an ongoing CBI investigation into the incident.
In a chilling account of events, Sanjay Roy, the accused in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, reportedly spent the hours leading up to the crime engaging in disturbing behavior. According to reports, Roy visited two red-light districts in Kolkata, where he molested a woman, before returning to the hospital where the crime occurred. He admitted to these actions during a CBI-administered polygraph test.
The crime, which took place in the early hours of August 9, has drawn widespread condemnation. Roy was seen on CCTV footage wandering the hospital’s corridors around 4:03 AM, just before the trainee doctor was found dead with 25 injuries. Although Roy initially confessed to the crime, he later recanted, claiming innocence and insisting that the victim was already dead when he entered the seminar hall. Authorities believe he has been attempting to mislead the investigation.
