In a chilling account of events, Sanjay Roy, the accused in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, reportedly spent the hours leading up to the crime engaging in disturbing behavior. According to reports, Roy visited two red-light districts in Kolkata, where he molested a woman, before returning to the hospital where the crime occurred. He admitted to these actions during a CBI-administered polygraph test.

The crime, which took place in the early hours of August 9, has drawn widespread condemnation. Roy was seen on CCTV footage wandering the hospital’s corridors around 4:03 AM, just before the trainee doctor was found dead with 25 injuries. Although Roy initially confessed to the crime, he later recanted, claiming innocence and insisting that the victim was already dead when he entered the seminar hall. Authorities believe he has been attempting to mislead the investigation.

Roy’s psychological profile, prepared by CBI, characterizes him as a pervert with addictive tendencies toward pornography. The profile further highlighted his violent and predatory instincts, contributing to the shocking nature of the crime. The case has drawn public outrage, and additional suspects, including several hospital staff members, have also undergone polygraph tests.

The tragic incident underscores growing concerns about the safety of women in public institutions, sparking a broader conversation about the need for greater vigilance and preventive measures in such spaces.
