The Union Cabinet on August 16 gave its nod to infuse an additional sum of Rs 14,903 crore into the Digital India Program. 

This financial boost is aimed at broadening the scope and reach of the initiative, ushering in a plethora of advancements across various sectors.

With a sharp focus on enhancing the skills of the nation's IT professionals, the extended program targets upskilling a substantial number of 525,000 IT experts. 

This drive towards nurturing an empowered and globally competitive workforce is expected to fuel the country's technological progress.

In an era where cybersecurity stands as a paramount concern, the Digital India Program gears up to fortify the nation's cyber defenses. A robust 265,000 cybersecurity personnel are set to undergo specialized training, reinforcing India's stance as a safer digital environment.

A notable highlight is the expansion of the renowned Umang platform, renowned for hosting a diverse range of services. With the addition of an impressive 540 new modes to the existing 1700 services, Umang's accessibility and utility will be significantly amplified.

Expanding the nation's technological prowess, the program directs its attention towards the National SuperComputing Mission. By adding 9 more supercomputers to the existing fleet of 18, the country's research and development capabilities are poised to receive a substantial boost in computational prowess.

Acknowledging the escalating importance of cybersecurity, the program extends a helping hand to the Computer Emergency Response Team - India (CERT-In) by facilitating its substantial expansion.

The Digital India initiative takes a stride towards empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by extending the Digilocker services to them. A move that streamlines business operations, enhancing efficiency and productivity.

In a bid to foster innovation and entrepreneurship across sectors, the program pledges support to over 1200 startups under its extended umbrella.

Furthermore, the establishment of AI Centers of Excellence in critical sectors such as healthcare, sustainable living, and agriculture promises to spearhead India's progress in the AI domain.
