Elon Musk has withdrawn the slander case he had filed against OpenAI

Elon Musk has unexpectedly dropped his lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman, alleging the AI company had abandoned its founding mission, without providing a reason.
A rather shocking turn of events has recently occurred as the techno magnate has shocked everyone by seeking to dismiss the legal lawsuit that he had filed against OpenAI and its director Sam Altman within the past few months. Musk’s attorneys filed a pleading to dismiss the case with prejudice, not explain as to why this motion was made.
It is an indication that the case is headed for an intense legal battle as OpenAI was expected to file a motion to dismiss the case on Wednesday. The chief executive had accused the artificial intelligence firm that he founded alongside him in 2015 of deviating from its core purpose of utilizing AI for the betterment of society, in order to make profits.
The dismissal filing indicates that Musk is dismissing the case “without prejudice, ” which means he can bring it back at a different time. When contacted by the BBC, legal representatives of Musk as well as OpenAI have not come forward to offer their remarks on the issue.
Musk’s legal action, launched in late February, accused OpenAI of straying from its originally announced non-profit status and subsequent acquisition of corporate revenues and partnerships such as the recent collaboration with Apple to integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT into Apple’s operating systems.
The Tesla CEO had recently used the X (previously Twitter) to lambast the Apple and OpenAI partnership, arguing that the latter was using your data to ‘sell you down the river’. Shareholders, nonetheless, appeared indifferent to this development, as Apple’s market capitalization reached $3 trillion following the release of the news.
He also established his own AI company, xAI, in July 2023, saying that its mission was to “understand reality. ” In a later that month, xAI released Grok chatbot, which advertised itself as a humorous version of ChatGPT.
