Frozen Pressurant Valve Is The Culprit That Delayed SpaceX's Starship Launch, Says Elon Musk

SpaceX went live on April 17 at 8.15 a.m. for the launch of its Starship, which ended in the cancellation of the launch due to the freezing of a pressurant valve.

About The Unsuccessful Attempt

After the live video ended, Elon Musk, SpaceX’s founder took to Twitter to tweet regarding the postponement of the launch, stating, “A pressurant valve appears to be frozen, so unless it starts operating soon, no launch today”. When only ten minutes were left for the launch, it was reported that there emerged a safety-related issue which could either lead to the holding of the countdown or cancellation of the launch altogether. Further, it was also mentioned that the pressurisation issue seemed to be there since the First stage which persisted and hence the launch had to be stopped. The launch was also transitioned to a wet dress rehearsal. SpaceX said that it will continue the operations to prepare Starship for another attempt while estimating that SpaceX will at least need two days for recycling. The company sounded hopeful for its next attempt stating that they look forward to it. The clock was stopped at 40 seconds and the attempt was put on a hold at that moment.

The live video started with an introduction video as well as gave sneak peeks into life at Starbase which houses around 1800 employees and is quite self-sustaining. It stated that the operation took place at the South facility in Texas, which was close to the Gulf of Mexico. Great care was taken to ensure safety in the area with SpaceX working in close connection with the U.S. Coast Guards. The video introduced a new facility in Bastrop, Texas that will soon be added to the SpaceX family.
