To help delegates from other countries attending a G20 meeting in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on September 18-19, the police will assign 100 officers who are skilled in English as Police Liaison Officers. Their role is to ensure that foreign delegates have a comfortable stay during the secretary-level meeting of the G20 finance track, as explained by Additional Superintendent of Police Pitambar Patel.
The Police Liaison Officers, who are proficient in English, will have a crucial and positive role in ensuring the safety of delegates from various countries, according to the ASP. These officers will be dressed in civilian clothing.
The ASP in charge of protocol also mentioned that having police officers with good English skills will be beneficial for the Chhattisgarh Police.
Preparations for the meeting are already underway, and a three-layer security arrangement will be implemented for the event, as per the officer. Additionally, five IPS officers, 15 Additional SP rank officers, and 30 DSPs will be responsible for overseeing security arrangements.
About 800 police, including armed personnel, will ensure security for the event and visiting delegates. Security will also be tight at the places delegates plan to go, such as Purkhouti Muktangan and Nava Raipur's jungle safari.
To keep traffic running smoothly, extra police from nearby districts will assist. A traffic plan is in place to reduce disruption for the public during the meeting, all taking place in Nava Raipur, as per ASP Patel.
