The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) concluded an extensive scientific survey of Varanasi's Gyanvapi mosque, preparing to present its report to the district court on November 17. Lasting over 100 days, the survey employed cutting-edge technology like ground penetrating radar, aiming to uncover the site's historical layers.

ASI's completion of the survey, initially due in September, faced delays, necessitating an extension granted by the court. The meticulous investigation involved scanning the mosque's inner and outer walls, cellar, and various areas except the 'wuzukhana,' where Muslims perform pre-prayer rituals.

The contentious nature of the mosque's premises stems from longstanding disagreements between Hindu and Muslim communities regarding its construction. The Allahabad High Court's refusal to halt the ASI survey heightened the significance of the impending report. This dispute revolves around claims that a pre-existing temple was replaced by the mosque, a contention contested by both sides with historical references and records.

The ASI's meticulous analysis aimed to resolve these contentious historical assertions. This ongoing conflict over the origins of the mosque has been a focal point for legal battles and communal discord. The significance of this report extends beyond the legal realm, impacting societal perspectives and historical narratives central to both communities' identities.

The ASI's findings carry immense weight, offering a potential resolution to a decades-long dispute fraught with historical and cultural significance. The report's impending submission to the district court marks a crucial step toward resolving this complex and emotionally charged issue.
