On Wednesday, 27th July, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly constructed ITPO complex 'Bharat Mandapam' through drone in Pragati Maidan, Delhi. International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) complex is India's largest destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions.
During the inauguration event of the IECC-Bharat Mandapam, PM Modi stated that in BJP led NDA's first term, when people gave him the responsibility, they were "dus numbri" (10th position) in the world economy. He mentioned that in the second term they were in 5th position but assured that in his third term, India would be among the top three economies in the world. He declared it to be "Modi ki guarantee." He also stated that after 2024, in their third term, their journey of development would increase rapidly.
He stressed that the infrastructure of the nation is undergoing a transformation unlike before, urging everyone to think big, dream big, and act on a grand scale. He stated that India is making remarkable progress by following this principle, achieving feats that were once considered unimaginable.
Referring to a report by Niti Aayog, PM Modi stated that India has the potential to eradicate poverty. He highlighted that in the past 5 years, 13.5 crore people have risen above the poverty line.
PM Modi added that according to international agencies, extreme poverty in India is close to being eradicated, indicating that the decisions and policies implemented over the past 9 years have been leading the country in the right direction.
Furthermore, PM Modi announced that Delhi will soon be home to the world's largest museum, named 'Yuge Yugeen Bharat.'
The newly inaugurated sprawling complex of IECC, developed at a cost of approximately Rs 2700 crore, spans across 123 acres and boasts numerous state-of-the-art facilities. Among these are a new Convention Centre, Exhibition halls, and amphitheaters, all designed to meet modern standards and requirements.
At the heart of the complex stands the grand architectural marvel, the Convention Centre, which is destined to accommodate large-scale international exhibitions and conferences. Resembling the shape of a 'Shankha' (conch shell), this iconic structure beautifully incorporates various architectural elements inspired by India's rich traditional art and culture.
During the Amrit Mahotsav, celebrating 75 years of Independence, the Prime Minister expressed that 'Bharat Mandapam' stands as a splendid gift from the citizens to the country's democracy.
