IndiGo, one of India’s leading budget airlines, has issued a formal apology to passengers on its flight 6E 2235 from Delhi to Varanasi after facing severe discomfort due to cabin temperature fluctuations on September 5, 2024. Despite the airline’s initial denial of any malfunction in the air conditioning system, a noticeable rise in temperature within the cabin led to passengers using magazines to fan themselves, with some reportedly fainting due to the heat.

A video surfaced showing distressed passengers trying to cool off as the cabin crew attempted to alleviate the situation. Elderly passengers, in particular, were affected, experiencing breathing difficulties amid the stuffy conditions. In a press statement, IndiGo acknowledged the inconvenience caused and assured passengers that the situation had been addressed. The airline explained that while the air conditioning system was functioning, external temperature shifts had led to the cabin warming up unexpectedly.

IndiGo reassured passengers that the temperature adjustments were made upon request and emphasized that the cabin crew remained attentive throughout the flight to ensure the situation improved. The airline further stated that passenger safety remains their top priority and apologized for the discomfort caused during the journey.

This incident comes just months after a similar situation on another IndiGo flight from Delhi to Bagdogra in June, where passengers also reported significant discomfort due to an air conditioning issue. IndiGo continues to face criticism from travelers who demand better handling of such situations in the future.
