A live ammunition cartridge was found on an Air India flight from Dubai, prompting a police investigation for potential security breaches. This discovery occurs amid numerous hoax bomb threats targeting airlines in India, raising concerns about aviation security.
Authorities have initiated an investigation following the discovery of a live ammunition cartridge on an Air India flight from Dubai to Delhi. The incident occurred on October 27, when an Air India staff member found the live round during routine cleaning after the aircraft had landed and all passengers had disembarked.
Delhi Police are treating the case as a potential security breach and have filed a first information report (FIR) under the Arms Act. An Air India spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that a cartridge was located in the pocket of a seat on flight AI916. The airline promptly reported the find to the Airport Police, adhering to established security protocols.
This troubling discovery comes amid a wave of hoax bomb threats that have recently plagued various airlines in India. Reports indicate that over 510 domestic and international flights have been affected by false bomb threats in the past two weeks alone. In light of these threats, authorities are reassessing their security measures, considering factors such as the anonymity of threats and the presence of VIPs on flights to determine their credibility.
