‘It’s a Very Unfortunate Incident’, says Bihar CM Nitish Kumar

Reacting over the murder of a journalist in Araria district, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday termed the incident 'unfortunate'. 


"It is a very unfortunate incident. How can someone kill a person this way? I have asked the officials to inquire into it," he said while speaking to reporters. 


As revealed by the police, earlier on Friday, unidentified assailants allegedly shot and killed a journalist named Vimal Kumar Yadav at his residence in the Raniganj Bazaar area of Araria district, Bihar. Yadav worked as a journalist for Dainik Jagran.

At around 5:30 am, the attackers knocked on his door, calling his name. Upon opening the door, he was shot by the gunmen.


Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Singh confirmed the incident, stating, "A journalist, identified as Vimal Kumar Yadav, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Raniganj Bazar area."  


He also stated that the post-mortem is underway. Singh further revealed, "The dog squad was brought to the scene and an investigation is underway."

An initial inquiry into the matter suggests that a longstanding enmity with his neighbours might be the reason that led to the incident.
